01:44 am - Velvet Revolver - Contraband

As some of you know, I'm a total sucker for rhythm section (bass & drums) and that's often the factor which decides whether I'll REALLY get into some band or not.
When I first heard that Slash, Duff and Matt are joining their forces to form a new band, I instantly knew it would be a winning combo, it was just a matter of time.
Many ppl attach GnR success to Axl's voice - yes it is incredible, but the recent GnR (lack of)production only proves that he couldn't do a thing without these musicians. Don't wanna take anything away from Axl, but anyone who felt the shivers down their spine during Slash solos interwoven by Duff's perfectly matched bass-work and Matt's hard hitting snares, will probably agree on this.

To cut the long story short, I finally got to hear the Velvet Revolver's new album Contraband - and...
Oh the sheer joy, oh the delight !!!!! The good ol' classic rock n' roll is back through the BIG doors! To compare it to any of the punkwonnaberock shit that comes out nowadays would be a crime. They really show that the old school still kicks the new school's ass. ^_______^

Duff, Slash & Scott

Scott Weiland (former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist) is one astonishing singer. His voice has a specific, sexy colour and its limits are yet to be discovered. It  works great with the rest of the band, but gives a completely different sound to the songs than Axl did. And I absolutely do not mean it in a negative sense! Scott's lyrics are very powerful, honest and they perfectly reflect the emotional rollercoasters he's been through. They're also vague and hard to catch at times but, that's nothing for the ears trained by Kyo's singing. *wink*

The guitar parts are amazing. This is easily some of Slash's best work to date and his technical ability just shines throughout the album. The solos are a little short compared to guns stuff but this band really shouldn't be compared to them. Dave Kushner (rhythm guitar) is a new face to me, but he plays solid backing throughout and he is worthy of his place among these men. Matt Scorum is his usual excellent self on the drums, never misses a beat and really brings back that hard rock sound.

Duff is a guy I admire the most, tho. Basses just don't get better than his, period. And he has it all - he's musically educated, eloquent, plays and composes for guitar and drums as well, has had a turbulent past but has learned and evolved from his mistakes, has quit drinking & drugs, took up martial arts, enrolled in a college and is only one semester short from his bachelor's in Finance. He's disarmingly egoless, amiable, charming and honest to a fault.
Have to add that he's also fuckable to the core, looks better than he ever did in guns, is a devoted husband (his third wife looks amazing! *points at the pics*) and father of two little girls.

Duff & his wife in the "Fall to Pieces" video

I could go on till tomorrow, But I'll let his interviews speak for themselves. Here's a link where he explains in detail the roles and contribution of every member in the bend, it's a very interesting, spiced up reading:
link1
Here's another interview link where he speaks more about his past experiences and gives some great advices for the aspiring young players:
link2
Ah, gotta love this guy!

Just look at that torso!!!! *drooooools*

Back to Contraband! *sighs*
The album has 13 tracks, 10 of which are hard rockin and 3 are ballads (Fall to Pieces, You got no right & Loving the Alien) that will blow you away.
I love the sound, solos, lyrics, structures, everything about it!
I hate nothing about it. Not one fault.
And, like Guns, the beauty of this music is that I can't see any other band playing it. It's unique.
This is definitely my pick for the album of the year.

guitars dream team

On the side note, Scot and Duff are the co-owners of the newly opened New York's 24-hour rock club, "The Snitch". What an aptly chosen name, ne? *grins*
The add is 59 West 21st Street. Duff said he hangs there often, so Missy, please please drop by sometimes and share the impressions! Please ? ^__~

Bad weather, no visiting to the cemetery and vineyards yet. It's tomorrow or never cause I'm back in Belgrade on Monday!
Yeeey!!!
Been doing little surfing on the pagan subject again and managed to find the more-less fitting path for messa - which is a mix between eclectic wicca and slavenianstvo.
I've spent some time reading on the subject, did a quizzie and realized that I've bitten into a floating top of an iceberg. The major part is under the surface, had no idea it existed and it's huuuge!!!!!!! ~__~ *grunts*

11:17 pm - Too much blablah about nothing much
-----------
Yesterday and today I did some exploring and went to the farthest point (hereinafter referred to as a 'final point') you can possibly go to on the way to the old monastery. The bummer is that I reached that point already after 5 kms of walking. If I was some particularly adventurously inclined wonnabe ranger, I guess that those pathetic 14 kms left through the wild fields and bushes, wouldn't pose much of a problem.
Or they would.
So, today, I was taking different paths on the various crossroads I would meet, hoping that some other choice would miraculously turn out to be the right one.
Of course, no such luck. The fact that there is absolutely no path up the river from the final point, was later confirmed by several villagers I inquired.
But I nevertheless felt good for trying.
The funny thing is the feeling I had yesterday while walking those abandoned and rarely taken paths for the first time. The smallest sound would startle me and my eyes were wide with apprehension at every step I took. It wasn't really fear, it was excitement mixed with certain amount of discomfort for the fact that I'm after all a female and should I meet some lunatic in that deserted place, it wouldn't be the easiest situation to get out of. Snakes and wild dogs don't scare me, I know how to deal with them. But men can be far worse beasts than any you can find in nature.
However, it also proved itself to be an irrational thingie that can be categorized under a fear from the unknown, as today I was walking this same path feeling as comfortable as you can possibly get. The lunatic scenario hasn't crossed my mind, not even once. I was taking in the scenery around me, enjoying in every step I took, something I wasn't able to do yesterday.

I was descending down to the river bank every time when there was a path through the bushes leading to it, cause that would mean that there is a pebbled beach discovered by some passionate fishermen or farmers living nearby. At one of those beaches, I've met two grown up puppies, who jumped on me as soon as I naively stopped to pat them. And I couldn't get rid of them the whole way up to the final point. They were literally glued to my legs and I cursed outloud with my every step, imagining having them with me through the town streets.
Not a save place for any dog, esp not a puppy and it was absolutely out of question to keep them. That would mean that I'd have to slam the granny's door right in front of their little noses and leave them to the mercy of the streets where they'd most certainly get themselves killed.
I was sooo pissed at myself for my stupidity.
There was one thing left for me to try tho.
On our way back, I made a fake turn to the same beach where I first found them. The puppies unglued themselves from my legs for the first time and ran forward through the bushes as they've probably recognized their dwelling spot. That was the moment when I turned around on my heels and ran as fast as I possibly could. Soon I heard them barking in the distance when they noticed that I was gone, but it was already too late and I was already too far for them to figure where did I go.
And then I did one huuuge pheeewww!

So the old monastery is not an option anymore. Too bad, I wanted to go to that place.
That leaves me the my granny's vineyards and the old cemetery in the hills right above the town.
It's not too far and the hill isn't too high, but I still expect it to be a nice walk, for the very fact it's the mount. Will see and will report.

The meantime is a bishie time!!!!!!!!!

09:20 pm - Sunday chez grand maman
--------
Goddess, do I hate small places!
I woke up after 3 hours of blissful afternoon nap (another nice habit you quickly get accustomed to in little towns), descended down the stairs all messy cause the darn bathroom is downstairs, only to bump into this ugly fella who had been chasing me at the same time while he was dating his present wife.
Ah, the nerve of his !
I'd have got his ass kicked long time ago of course, but the problem is that his small wife is actually a family friend. And the stupid prick had no idea of this at the time he was nagging me.
So I must behave.
Now we're both in a situation to have to sit at the same table while we rather wouldn't, each for our own reasons.
Fucking damn it ! >__<

I was planning to do some serious hiking by the river this afternoon, but didn't really have strength. Felt sleepy like some old hag the whole day, guess it was the adjustment thing. Tomorrow I'll be up to the challenge. *nods*
Btw, 19kms from here is an old Orthodox Monastery hidden in the hills. It's a very popular tourist spot (not that there are many tourists, mind you) and I had been there before only by car. Nature around the area is unbelievable in its beauty, and I would like to walk these 19kms by myself, as there're no available cars. But frankly, I'm afraid to do it. The path up the river is passable only up to the certain point. After that begin fast streams surrounded by wild bushes on both sides, where human leg hadn't yet crossed. And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm no Legolas.
That would leave me the main road, but 19kms of breathing in fresh gas steams and dust clouds aren't really my idea of a healthy sport.

On the side note, I've transferred all of my fav music to this compie (the speakers are crap tho, will have to replace them asap!), but have forgotten to bring along my bishies gallery CD ! *cries* Anyhow, I did some surfing for a new stock and had immense drooling time doing so!

For this update, I've chosen an INCREDIBLY handsome Korean bishie - Oh Ji-Ho!
Aaahhh!

02:41 pm - Last day at the office !!!!!!!
------------
For a change, I'll update from work. A time stolen from work is a sweeeet time, definitely. ^__^y
Not that I had too much to do today tho, just sorting the papers and instructing the colleague into some of my duties before I go on vacation. Oh, what a wonderful word ! *melts*
After work I'll go to the bus station to pick up my ticket for tomorrow, cause I loath having to go to there an hour earlier than it's due just to pick up a booked ticket. *grunts*

I'm now tempted to post bunch of quizzies, cause the alternative are my musings, which are either too embarrassing for me to share, or too prosaic. The golden middle are (any) fandom-related issues, music reviews, various events that are happening all over the world or those sharable ones that are happening to messa. I decided to skip those altogether, cause, after all, just can't relax and let the pen (eerrr...keyboard) flow at the work. They keep interrupting me and I'm loosing the neat. So I'll just post a bishie. Doncha worry, I'll have plenty of time in the next three weeks to suffocate you with afore mentioned thingies.

Anyhow, my plan was to post a pic of one Korean cutie, but having in regard the outlook for someone's wedding, I decided to post another, more recent pic of her future bishie- hubby.
Yep, Hiro again, but different enough. *nods*

August 31st, 2004

10:58 pm - Guess who's back again! *hides*
------------
I decided to update this poor thing before the August goes bye bye for good.
The 1st and the 31st... ahem.
No excuses for the lack of updates. I did have one business trip at the beginning of the month (the one that prevented me to join angel and demon on yahoo messenger, blah), but as far as the rest of the days are concerned, I just didn't feel like going online. Had a birthday party, went through a week-long depression because of my obvious aging, bought a new, sooo cuuute cell phone  *huggles the keitai*, did a lot of late nighters and loootsa drinking. My wallet is empty and both itssa and messa await tomorrow with tears of joy in our eyes.
Paycheck time, duh. ;)

However, it always feels good to be back online, so back I am.
Again. ^__^Y

It's shitty at work so I won't even go there. Lets just say that I'll have no second thoughts should another job opportunity appear. *completely sympathizes with Cygny here*
My vacation starts on 6th and I'm not overly excited over it. I planned to take 3 whole weeks off, but because of the overall crappy situation I doubt I'll be able to pull it through. I'll try tho, so keep ur fingers crossed for messa, please.
The odds are still it's gonna be only two weeks, of which the first will be spent at my granny's.
You'll agree, it's to pee my pants out of excitement !
The unblack side is that at granny's I always feel inspired to return to Pilgrims so that's what I'll try to do and this time. *nods*
I'll also post more often on LJ, thanks to the lucky fact that dad installed one pc at hers, for us not to die of boredom as we usually do while there. The problem will be to kick my dad off the thingie, tho. *grumbles*
You see, he's the passionate online chess player, with an addiction far worse than any I remember having myself.
And that speaks something !

Of course, I haven't forgotten a bishie for today! *already envisions demon rolling her eyes at the pic*
Ladies, please enjoy at the sight of the beauty that is Hiro from La'cryma Christi!

August 1st, 2004

10:57 pm - Today is Lughnasagh...
..............

It falls on August the 1st and is one of 8 Pagan seasonal festivals. This is the original time of the corn harvest (and the death of the corn king God) in the days before farmers started sowing more than one crop per year it represents the time of life when the individual reaches full maturity as a father or mother. Lugh is a Celtic God of light. Starting with Lughnasadh, the balance of day and night seem to shift more dramatically.

As if you care. :P

Tomorrow will be a fun day at work. Big Boss (hope Cygny won't mind me borrowing her wording :P) is not coming from his vacation before August the 12th, and he left Little Boss to take care of thingies during his absence.
Little Boss happens to be one niiiiiice lady who hates Big Boss' guts. Probably for his always being an arrogant prick, a very prototype of an authoritative communist director. This nice lady is 41, btw, and she has never smoked weed in her life. Of course, the rest of us, her fellow colleagues agreed to urgently remedy this unacceptable stat! Our only male colleague, a young guy in his middle twenties (he's leaving the company next week, btw), was supposed to get the grass in question. However you can't rely on youths of today... the boy's resources have dried out as he timidly admitted, which aptly left the task up to his elder colleague.
You're guessing right - me!

So today I was renewing my old contacts solely for this purpose (to their big surprise, as I've supposedly left 'those' days behind). To cut the long story short, I now have the package in my pocket and I expect tomorrow to be the Little Boss' initiation day ! *wink*

Subject shift again.
*cough*

Asian boys are swirling through my dreams persistently as ever, which only has a result of me waking up in a puddle of sweat in the morning.
Go figure.

As we all know, Gackt is plastered all over everything in Japan... billboards, magazines, trash tabloids, newspapers, and every single piece of marketable merchandise you can imagine. Now, I've been a Gackt fan since his Malice Mizer days and have been following his solo career with interest as this man is a walking talent with incredible voice. But today,  I'll just talk about the fact that he's five feet ten inches of nothing but smooth skin stretched over pure muscle and bone.
What was it he said on Utaban? 2% body fat or some ridiculous shit like that? The fact of the matter is that he can fuck for days and never need anything except maybe a mirror to check his hair in.
He's a vain motherfucker, but that's the way I like 'em.

01:07 am - Sleepless rant ~_~
-----------------
I've been pondering my options for several weeks already, as the darn anxiety isn't about to leave me alone and starts to fuck up with my sleep as of lately.
I have this indistinctive feeling that something that will affect my life is about to happen very soon. The problem is that I have no idea what to expect and from where.
If it wasn't for that feeling, I probably wouldn't even stop to bother with these thoughts as there isn't really anything I could put my finger on - it's just a whirling of presentiments, which, in the end, may turn out to be misleading.
But somehow, I don't think so.
At least the Asian boys swing is still on, as one of the rare stands in my life today I can still consider consistent. Cheeers!
It's kinda feels comforting to open your LJ client (~with a firm decision to finally update the bloody thing~) knowing that even a briefest roaming through your bishies gallery (in a search for the specimen for the respective update, mind you) will be enough to get a huuuge lustful grin plastered all over your face.
Reeeally comforting, ne ?

02:31 am - Hm...can't think of a nice title.
------------
On my way home from work through the nearby park, I met three US girls who stopped me for a chat.
They're already spending their 5th week of vacation in Belgrade, they're students (one of them graduated) and they're very friendly. I'm only curious as why did they decide to address ME of all people. Seems I'm not as scary as I believed I was, which put me down a bit.
Anyways, 'do you speak eng?' 'yes, how can I help you?' 'we'd like to talk to you if you have a min' 'sure, it'd be my pleasure...'.
And they didn't need any help, just saw me walking and thought me interesting to chat with, so they kinda ambushed me.
And chat we did.
I left them my cell number, as they said they'd call on Saturday cause they'd like to hang out with me. And I was, like, why the hell not. I usually sleep my Saturdays over. And I haven't met anyone in this manner since the students' protests in '96/'97.
And darn, why aren't guys straightforward like this!
Not faaair!!! ~-~

Mom's going to Morocco for a business trip and will stay for a year. Long time indeed, but at least she'll be at some place new and earn some niice bucks.
Now if I could only send my dad somewhere too and paaaartyyyy.
But no such luck. Hmpf.

I've found a great trucker for the asian-movie torrents and, as you can imagine, Totchi compie is busy again, downloading at full steam.

01:23 am - Will I resist ? Place the bets.
--------

I must not give in to the temptation that is mom's creamy doughnuts. They're in the kitchen.
I must think of the oh-so-vain-and-skinny Shin-chan ! He would never break down and take a doughnut. I don't need the darn thing anyway! BUT BLOODY HELL, there's just something about that cream inside ! No no no no no no no.

On the side note, have finally been to see Harry Potter. I was thrilled as I expected I would be. The HP magical world is way too immersing for me to criticize it after only one watching. Almost all I remember is just me seating there and melting in my seat. Heh, go figure. ^_^!
The overall atmosphere is serious and dark *yeeeey !*, The movie is PG rated and not without reason.
Oh, I do have one remark! Although I didn't like Dumbledore at first, he's easy to get used to, while professor Trelawney is a joke. Her clowny interpretation stands out from the rest of the cast way too much for my taste. But while I watched the movie, it didn't bugg me like it does now.
The kids are all grown up and cuuuute. ALL of them.

Damn, I keep thinking about doughnuts. What would Shinya do ? Hm, he'd just wrinkle his delicate nose at them and go to...errr...read a book. *sweatdrop*
So shall I ! *nods*
Damn, damn, damn !!!

Oh yes, as I promised Missy, with this entry I present you another droolworthy bishie - Takeshi  Kaneshiro!!!

11:47 pm - Sunday musing
-----------
Saturday night was a disaster!
With the fool moon blasting right at my window, how could have I been so foolish to even think that any sleep would be possible in the first place ! My actual going to bed and attempting it, can't be named otherwise but as complete idiocy.
Anyhow, inspired by the screeching moonlight, I got up at 4am, turned on Totchi-compie and spent some deaf time researching as under which pagan path might I classify my beliefs.
Needless to say, without success. >_<

It has been said that if you gather three Pagans together, you get five opinions. Pagans have no absolute source of authority for their spiritual beliefs other than their own conscience and intuition, so have to find their own truths by constantly challenging their own ideas and beliefs. Ideal for me! Btw, for those not familiar with the term, Paganism is a collection of various spiritual paths (too many to count) and doesn't have an universal definition, but it can be said that it has three agreed principles that everyone (whatever their individual Pagan beliefs) could agree upon.
I quote:
"1. Love and Kinship with Nature. Reverence for the life force and its ever-renewing cycles of life and death
  2. A Positive Morality, in which the individual is responsible for the discovery and development of their true nature in harmony with the outer world and community.
This is often expressed as: 'Do what you will, as long as it harms none.'
  3. Recognition of the Divine, which transcends gender, acknowledging both the female and male aspects of Deity."

People drawn to paganism tend to be in general strong individuals, who by nature challenge authority. *yeeeey, go we!*
As such, Pagans may well have additional beliefs, derived from other religions, feeling at complete ease in their reconciling of the irreconciable.
So if anything of this ring a bell within you, who knows, maybe you are a pagan at heart, too. ^__~

I have to go dream of Takenouchi Yutaka now...

09:13 pm - Death a pimp ?
---------

After several looong days, I finally have my Totchi-compie up and kickin' again! Pheww. And I bought him a new HD just for a back-up purpose. Next in line is a new graphic card and a stronger power supply. Totchi-compie is one of the few thingies in my life I don't mind spending enoooormous amounts of money for, over and over and over again. Go figure! ^_^

Sooo... I'm currently on Asian boys overload... Not that I haven't been on it before, but it's different now - the damn thing affects my sleep! Now I may freely throw my caffeine pills through a window - mental images of cutie bishies in various stages of undress start roaming through my head as soon as I get my eyes closed. And believe me, the intensity of it would be enough to keep anyone awake! *nods*
I put the blame on the series of Japanese and Korean movies on a local TV, that air almost every evening !
Geez, I'm glad I wasn't this way in my teenage days - I like being in my late twenties and acting like a complete spazoid when it comes to boys.
Keeps me nice and horny! ^__~
Sooo... as you're already doomed to read my mindless drivel about who gets my panties in a knot, perhaps I should make some use of the IMG tags and force you to see as well ! Yep, exactly what I'm going to do - each entry will go with another bishie piccie ! If this doesn't motivate me to post more often, I dunno what possibly might !

See? Easy!

04:19 pm - Will I ever put together two months with a compie without having something to repair!?
-------------------

When I tried to turn him on this morning, Totchi compie refused to boot Windows XP (Win 98 still boots, though). He stopped responding (hanged) with an empty, black screen immediately after the power-on self test completed and before the Windows XP logo would typically appear on the screen. I was hurrying to work so I didn't have time to further explore the problem and, of course, I feel like shit all day and can't wait to get home. Whatever the case is, I'm reeeeeaally tired of this!

10:14 pm - Sooooo, here's messa again. ^__^Y
-------
Holla!
It's almost been a month since I posted anything. My poor, poor, little, neglected LJ. ~_~
And even now, I'm only tempted to post another load of quizzies, but will resist the meanie temptation !!! *nods*
So, her Majesty Fate decided to leave me with some free, peaceful Sunday time to spare, so I said to myself - grab the opportunity and write the hell something, as such nice opportunities don't pop up 'that' often!
Anyhow, there were only a few notable impressions in past two weeks that I deem worthy writing down. Note the accent on "I" - cause these same thingies will probably bore to death those poor souls who have me on their friends list.
The first thing is a geeeeenerous *hope you noted the sarcasm*offer from Freewill Europe to help overseas fans attend the two Dir en grey concerts, both scheduled in August. This offer pissed many old fans who felt bypassed, while many new fans are delighted beyond belief. As for me, it only left me deeeeeeply depressed with realization that my 3 monthly wages would barely be enough to cover these expenses, and even that only in a case if I spent those 3 months sleeping under a tree, not eating, not drinking and not using any single electrical device. *siiigh* I'm still mourning over this. Of course, I have other means to visit Japan in the near future, even meet these guys backstage, but that's not the point. The point is that I wish I was earning enough to afford attending one damn concert! Right now it's not the case and although I was pretty happy with my earnings till lately, right now I'm seriously reconsidering my business options and my professional future.

The second thingie is a niiiice, neat and pimpy look of my room ! Yep, the new bookshelves are up & kickin! You wouldn't possibly believe how much space has this thing saved me! Hell, I'm now able to train in my room, something I couldn't even dream of doing in the past! Yeeeeey to the new arrangement !!!! *huggles the shelves*

And the third thingie is reminiscence of the childhood memories. Namely, I've found and downloaded all the 96 episodes of one of my all-time fav anime series that had marked my childhood - Maison Ikkoku.
I was really surprised by emotions that overwhelmed me while I was watching this. It's an absolute fluff and fluff leaves me as cold as ice, but I guess this is the 'privileged' fluff, from the period of my enfance while I still reacted strongly to it. I felt very strange at having to live through these 'romantic' emotions again.

And only one quizzie for the end!

Hell's no place for sleeping in a world beyond control...

Yet again a painful purchase is about to drain my poor wallet. This time the pain will be endured for the bookshelves that are supposed to finally solve my ever-present problem of a huuuge quantity of various magazines, books, CDs, CDs, CDs and CDs lying all over my floor. With this new investment, I think I'll be able to use my floor for walking again, as it was only good for jumping so far.
I took the day off from work today, but slept it all over. *shrugs*
I live for the nighttime.

And the quizziestime!!!!!!!

Venus with a Mirror
You are VENUS WITH A MIRROR, a.k.a ROKEBY VENUS
(1648). Commissioned by a libertine private patron, the painting obscures the identity of the model by turning her away from the viewer and blurring her features on the mirror. Cupids presence hints at, but not specifically identify, the amorous encounter of the scene, which is enhanced by the painterly textures and colors. Seen in a rear view, the model is along series of curves, which are repeated in the grand sweep of the silky curtain. The rarity of the female nude in 17th century Spain makes this painting even more unusual. It demonstrates that these types of depictions were acceptable, even in Counter-Reformation Spain- provided it was a private patron. Even so, Velazquez has erred on the side of modesty by showing only the face of the model in the mirror. A stricter application of the laws of physics might have shown another part of her body.*Wink-wink*

02:05 am - So.....
------
War-sama is here, too !!!!!! Yeeey!!!!!! Now the net-life is as complete as it can get as messa is soooo haaappyy!!!!!!!! ^_____^
I'd be even more happy if I had some more time to spend on the net. This week has been all work, work and more work, I was coming home late and had to spend evenings proofreading the book that my mom wrote. Pheeww. But what can I do, I promised her I'd help her to come up with a decent title, but can't do that if I haven't read the thing.
She gave it some overused title "The shadowed side of the Garden" - it may not sound bad in English, but believe me, it sounds soooo darn clishee in original !

On the side note, I've seen Troy and wasn't at all disappointed as I feared I would be! Sure, the plot is totally altered from the Iliad's, but it's still a well-rounded tale to tell. The director chose to take the 'realistic' rather than epic/mythological path and I'm fine with that, an interpretation just like any other.
I must admit that Achilles bugged the hell out of me, though. I couldn't possibly get used to director's interpretation of him (Poor Pitt was fairing as well as he could midst the given lines), but as far as the rest of the cast goes, I have no complaints! Eric Bana as Hector, Peter O' Tool as Priam and Sean Bean as Odysseus, gave a really outstanding performance and, all in all, made this movie worth seeing even if it doesn't blow you away. Or maybe it does. If you're romantic, or if you like to drool over bishies (like in messa's case) it just might. *wink*
As for Orli, he got to play Paris, whom I never liked as a chara. Orli plays this role decently and true to the negative image I've already had of Paris. That probably means his acting was good. *shrugs*

As for the women, all were amazingly beautiful, but the only one worth mentioning is the chick who plays Briseis, even though this Briseis is *completely* fictional.
Heard she's from Australia, just like Bana.

And of course, totally unrelated, a quizzy! ^__^

09:37 pm - Famine is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
----------------

Friggin hell, I haven't been this happy for a looooooooooong loooooooooong time! I've been missing her so much and I'm certain she must have felt something - some kind of energy that nudged her to send out that collective mail!
I'm not saying that it was my energy alone - she's been greatly missed by many - but still, I like to believe that my aura is capable of letting its presence known, even if only by giving people that lill' urge they can't really put their finger on, to think of me at the same time I've been thinking about them! Demon will say I'm raving, but it has happened too many times for it to be a coincidence!
Famine is back and it's all that matters!!!!!!!! *fervent nod*

07:52 pm - X Japan - "The Last Live" review
-------------

What is your opinion on X-Japan ?

When I started listening to J-rock, X-japan had a huuuuge cult status. It was a giant, a myth which had influenced almost every single J-rock band that I admired. And every single J-rock site that I visited at that time, offered *some* info about them. So, unless you've been hiding under a rock, you couldn't have possibly missed to learn when and how X-Japan disbanded, to hear "Endless rain", "Forever love" or "Weekend", to find out that Yoshiki was a GOD of J-rock, to hear it all about hide's death and about Toshi's joining the Masaya cult.
That was also the main reason why I dug into them considerably late. I simply didn't feel any need to *dig*, when it was next to impossible to avoid bumping into them on every step.

My firm belief is that you can't get a real idea what a certain band is about if you haven't seen any of their lives. With X-Japan I wasn't even goaded into doing my usual homework, as I believed they were mostly about ballads. Oh, how wrong I were !
It was a pure accident that I got to hear 'Rusty nail' and 'Silent Jealousy' and thanks Goddess for that!
I was friggin' speechless, left wondering how such inhuman rhythm was possible at all !
O___O
Of course, the next thing was to do my homework. Have since collected all the albums and seen most of the PVs.
But still no lives. DVDs are awfully expensive and I felt like I'd rather spend all that money on some active band.

While cruising through Public MM Torrents (which has most of X Japan works, btw), I saw that someone had put up their legendary "Last Live", performed 1997 in Tokyo Dome.
The DVD has been divided in 4 CD-sized files, so I told to myself - lets finally download something - and I snatched the first file.
>______<
No need to point out that I grabbed the rest as fast as my connection speed allowed me !

I've been to maaany lives, saw many on both TV and dvd, but nothing, NOTHING prepared me for the grandeur that unrolled right in front of my eyes!
I stared in openmouthed awe, goosebumps rising on my skin, I laughed and I cried.
Oh yes, I soooo cried.
It was an impressive, emotion-filled performance, which, it's safe to say, would melt the iciest iceberg.
Tokyo Dome has a capacity of 55.000 souls - it was filled to the point of boiling.
Hm, no. Audience hasn't *filled* the place. It swarmed it and swallowed it.
All eyes were pointed towards an impressive X-shaped stage while the hypnotizing lighting-effects announced a beginning of the show. And then, there was a deafening roar of the crowd - the two video-beams on each side of the stage zoomed an appearance of each of their favs - Yoshiki, Toshi, Heath, Hide and Pata.

They were casually dressed, no visual elements and almost no makeup, except for hide. So the guys started off with a happy rhythm of 'Amethyst', immediately lifting the audience into a frenzy. It was a sheer joy, a bliss for both eyes and ears!

However, throughout the following songs, it soon became apparent that the feeling the band members themselves had shared, was far from a happy one.

A strained expression on Yoshiki's face, traces of tears glistening on Toshi's, Heath and Pata's perplexed looks, and hide's through-tears-forced cheerfulness, left no doubt that the feeling which dominated this live was a deepest sorrow.

The whole situation reminded me of a giant oak at its prime, being cut down. Each song was another cut of the merciless axe that was only bringing an inevitable end closer & closer.
The audience was a perfect effigy of quivering, trembling leaves, which, until the very last moment, refused to believe that their adored tree is being killed. The tree itself wasn't ready to die. However, it proudly accepted Death and sang the last lullaby to its loving leaves, through painful tears.

Indeed, Toshi's voice was flawless and more poignant than ever, Hide and Pata outdid themselves in their teeth-grinding slides, in perfect sync with Yoshiki's wild drumming and the strong bass-line underlying the passes.

On top of that, you get to see their playful interaction with the public, emotion-filled moments when all the band members give in to tears, the whole audience crying and singing along, Yoshiki's dramatic drums-breaking, an impressive drums-solo, and so on and so on. Can't really recall all of it.

See the rest of the first CD screen caps )

Video quality of these 4 files is highest. There are many (and I mean MANY) camera angles focusing on each member at the right moment, accentuating a specific facial expression or a solo passage. Dynamic movement and switches are well adjusted to each song and never frustrating.
Audio quality is good, as much as a dvd rip can be. I can't find the info if the original dvd is multi-channeled. If it is.....oh the joy!!! ^___^
Cause I'm definitely buying this one.

The dvd tracklisting (on all 4 CDs) is as follows:

01. Amethyst
02. Rusty Nail
03. Week End
04. Scars
05. Dahlia
06. Drain
07. Piano Solo
08. Crucify My Love
09. Longing -togireta Melody-
10. Kurenai
11. Orgasm
12. Drum Solo
13. Forever Love
14. Prologue
15. X
16. Endless Rain
17. -additional footage of Yoshiki in Korea and more about Violet UK project

This video is an absolute 'must have' for every X Japan fan, and dvd is worth every penny.
Those who, by some miracle, aren't fans already, will become ones after watching this live. Guaranteed.
I think you can still find the files on this MM Torrents page.

Enjoy.

Take that in any form you'd like. You could be a DJ, you could paint, you could write, you could even code. Still, you hold whatever you do as Art. You are passionate, and you can also try too hard.

What kind of goth are you?

Vampire
Vampire Witchy: There is something about you
people just don't get, you look like a Goth,
you act like a Goth, you even sound like a
Goth, so why is it you are not as pretentious
as a Goth? It's because you understand where
other people are coming from. You are the role
player of the scene. Having empathy enables you
to talk freely to people no matter who they
are. You're witty, intelligent and cute, but
you know how to turn cute into dangerous
beauty. You're at home with your pets and your
family and you are surprised when people stare
at you in public, you're so used to what you
are and totally unaware of your beauty that you
don't realise you create a stir. You enjoy your
life, wherever it may lead. Despite your cool
exterior if you don't like something you make
sure everyone knows about it. No one wears
they're hair better than you and you look
sexiest when you feel comfortable. Your motto
is "Anne Rice only got it half right"
